S President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for coronavirus. In a tweet on Friday (IST) morning, Donald Trump said that both Melania and him have tested positive for Covid-19 and have started with the quarantine process. This comes one month ahead of the US election.
In his tweet, Donald Trump said, “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wished speedy recovery to the Trumps and wrote, “Wishing my friend @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS a quick recovery and good health.”
Melania Trump wrote, “As too many Americans have done this year, @potus & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19. We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together.”
In an earlier tweet, Donald Trump had said that they were awaiting their coronavirus test results after close aide Hope Hicks tested positive for coronavirus.
Now as Donald Trump himself has tested positive for coronavirus, it is likely to bring to standstill his hectic election campaign with only one month left for the US presidential elections to begin.
With only 32 days left for the US presidential elections to kick off, two more presidential debates with Joe Biden are scheduled in the coming weeks apart from the campaigns. The debates and the entire Republican campaign now comes under a shadow although analysts have said Trump may also hope to get sympathy votes after testing positive for coronavirus.
Hope Hicks, 31, is the closest aide of President Donald Trump to have tested positive with coronavirus. She had travelled with the president on Air Force One earlier this week. Trump had even said in an interview on Thursday night that he and the first lady spend a lot of time with her.
